Evouke is finally back, but where have we been?

We are back!

I’m sure you’re all wondering where we've been, and rightly so! We have so much to share, why we took a break, what we’ve been up to and what’s to come.

Let’s start with a little context!

As you may know, Evouke began with our founder Nabila recognising the lack of diversity in the design-tech industry. She regularly attended events and found herself in a predominantly male environment, with very few people of colour and nearly no one that outwardly displayed their faith in the form of a headscarf. With the mentorship of some amazing women, she was encouraged to create Evouke, a self-built solution and a catalyst consultancy that would foster diversity in the design-tech industry.

With all great plans, come challenges and in Nabila’s case it was her health fastly deteriorating in 2019, Nabila discovered she had been living with a poorly recognised, misunderstood chronic illness. However, when she was finally diagnosed in 2019, too much damage had been done. Nabila was significantly disabled and spent the latter half of 2020 mostly bed bound, with an inflamed body going berserk and her nerves misfiring.

In the midst of it

This was a difficult time for Evouke, Nabila contemplated what this meant for her newly founded mission. Could Evouke realistically continue? Was everything she worked towards for nothing? Although she still had all the knowledge and experience that she’d built over her career, she no longer had the physical or cognitive capacity to use it.

When 2022 came around, Nabila had spent a few years dealing with her illness and reflecting on Evouke, she gradually came to a conclusion after many days and nights of consideration that the mission of Evouke simply needed to be adapted to once again serve her needs and those with similar experiences.

Nabila envisioned an Evouke, a new spoonie-friendly solution; an inclusive work environment that would pave the way for a more diverse industry. A solution focused consultancy that would meet the needs of her clients & collaborators whilst not compromising her health and the health of her employees.

The new Evouke would continue to foster a more diverse industry whilst reminding her clients, employees and collaborators that disability doesn’t diminish your value, but rather it adds it by providing another perspective. Which is key when building new services and products for businesses. Evouke will uphold the voices that didn’t feel valued enough to be heard but need to be heard the most.

So now to the exciting bit… What’s next?

Evouke will connect with more like-minded people where we can exchange value and help drive each other’s missions, a supportive circle of change makers. Evouke will both connect and build communities of mission driven businesses for us to share knowledge and experiences to make a bigger impact together, whilst building empathy into this industry step by step.

We will work one on one with small and big businesses guiding them to achieve their potential. If we were talking to you whilst explaining this, you would be able to hear the excitement in our voices. We can’t wait to connect with every single one of you and start building this community and sharing all of the creativity that we’ve been desperately holding back until now.
